Were the Brownies Worth my ER Visit!

Yesterday around 430 pm I found myself lying on the floor thinking I was going to die. What the hell had just happened?? Did I just stab my palm as I was scraping the burnt brownies off the pan. Yep, I think I did. I felt my heart drop and my eyes completely shut in excruciating pain. I told Yasmin to get the phone and dial 911 so mommy does not die. Dramatic? maybe a little. But I will be damned if I was to die from a brownie accident. For those of you who don't believe my pain story. I literally took the knife and instead of landing under the brownie, I, with full force stabbed my palm. I felt the knife hit my bone and saw the knife come out the other end of my palm. The most painful thing ever !!!

The paramedics arrived and told me to get to the ER so they can take some X-rays and ensure there was no ligament damage. I called my husband who was 15 minutes away from home and then called my mom! what a hot mess! She completely lost it on the phone..I hate doing this to my mom. I have realized that as she is getting older, she is no longer able to handle stress! Anyhow got to the ER..did not have any ligament damage but I did end up getting stitches. The numbing shot was the most painful thing ever! and the damn PA had to give me 2 of them! As I was getting the shot, the PA tells me that my cut was like a gun shot puncture. I swear I was about to lose it. Do I look like someone who could relate to a gun shot wound. I have never even held a gun woman. Just give me the damn shot and get me out of here!. I got home from the ER and had to explain all the details to my 4 year old. She could care less if mommy was dying..she wanted to know all the details of what the Dr. did to me!

All night I was in so much pain. I was tossing and turning in pain! I don't recall moaning like this even when I was in labor. I am feeling better now though. The stitches sting a little but overall I am feeling better. I still cannot straighten my fingers, but can bear the pain as I type this.

I swear I will never scrape damn burnt brownies! Its smarter to just toss them in the trash! Lessons learned big time!

  3. Hey girl- I just had a very similar blog story a few weeks ago (while cleaning a sheet of glass from my entertainment center fell out onto my wrist and gave a crazy gash that showed my insides and severed a tendon, but luckily missed my artery!) Anyway, SO sorry to hear this, sounds mighty painful! Who kept your little one whiel you went to the ER? Luckily my little guy (5) was at school when my incident happened. Feel better ASAP!!!!

  4. Susan - sorry to scare you with the blood pics. Trust me..I stopped breathing for a while when I saw the mess on my hands!

Mudmama - I am so glad you could relate to my level of pain. How are feeling now! ouch!!!!!! I know you are scared to go near that entertainment center now. As soon as the cut happened, I called my mom and sister who live 15 minutes away. As soon as they got to my house, I left the girls with her and went to the ER with my sister. They are a true blessing. Ofcourse my husband rushed home as well! only to give me a hard time about those damn brownies!

  5. I gasped when I saw the pic. At first, I was going to say the brownies were worth it... but not if they were burnt!
