The Joys of Chemotherapy

Last month our worlds turned upside down when my only sister was diagnosed with high grade Sarcoma in her left thigh. My sister is 36 years old and one of the strongest woman I know in my life. This has been a prayer filled journey and this past weekend she went through her first cycle of Chemotherapy.

As I watched her laying in the hospital bed I started to think about her chemo treatment and what we as a family have to look forward to. I did however write down some of my thoughts as I started to see the positive light!

  • The peacefulness in her face. I have not seen my sister sleep like this in months. She is pain free due to all the medication and the calmness in her face brings joy to my heart.
  • The hope to shrink the tumor. Chemo is not guaranteed but we are praying that the chemo will in fact shrink the tumor and the surgeon will be able to perform a limb sparing surgery.
  • The tears in my sister's eyes when we played a motivational CD for her with all her favorite songs. She had a smile and nothing but tears.
  • The support around us. While going through her chemo, we have been bombarded with phone calls and emails to inquire about our sister and for that we are truly blessed.

In everything we must find joy!
